Just Ales began as Somerset's first micropub, opening in Wells in 2016, and a second small bar on Stony Street in Frome followed in 2018. The Wells site has since closed, leaving Frome as the only branch trading. The single room holds a handful of tables and a short bar with no fruit machines, jukebox or television, in keeping with the micropub format of favouring conversation over background noise. Four real ales rotate on hand pump alongside a longer list of ciders and perries from small West Country producers, restocked as casks run dry rather than to a fixed list. Bottled beers and wines fill a fridge behind the counter for anyone who prefers to drink at their own pace. The pub is dog friendly and keeps local produce for sale by the till. It opens Tuesday to Sunday.
