Peel Farm at Lintrathen, a few miles from Kirriemuir, began diversifying in 1984 when Frances Fleming started serving afternoon teas from the farmhouse's small sun parlour. Her daughter Claire now runs the business, which has grown to include a coffee shop serving home-baked cakes and locally sourced light meals, a farm shop stocking the family's own Highland beef and lamb, and the Courtyard gift and antiques shop. An ice cream bothy and a nature trail through the surrounding grounds extend the visit beyond the farmhouse buildings, alongside self-catering cottages and glamping pods for overnight stays. The coffee shop opens daily except for four days over Christmas and New Year, running nine until five in summer months and nine until four over autumn and winter. What began as one family's side income now supports several trading strands under a single roof.
