Gallery Q occupies a shopfront on Nethergate in Dundee, two doors from Dundee Contemporary Arts, and has operated under that name since Joyce McGlone founded it as the Queen's Gallery in 1999. McGlone sold the business on retiring in 2018 to Lucinda Middleton, who continues to run it as a dealer in Scottish fine art, sculpture, ceramics, glass, textiles and jewellery. The gallery mounts monthly painting exhibitions alongside changing displays of craft work from artists based across Scotland, and maintains an in-house framing workshop for customers buying original pieces. Opening hours run Tuesday to Saturday during the day, with the gallery closed on Sundays and Mondays. Unlike the multi-artist collectives found elsewhere in the city, Gallery Q operates as a single trading business with one owner responsible for what appears on its walls.
