Brothers John, Iain and David Stirling built Arbikie Distillery on their family's Highland Estate farm at Inverkeilor in 2014, four generations after the Stirlings began farming the land above Lunan Bay. Barley and potatoes grown on the estate supply roughly 90 percent of the raw material for the distillery's gin, vodka and whisky, under a single-estate approach the brothers describe as field to bottle. Visitors can book tours and tastings or eat in the cafe-bar overlooking Lunan Bay, with private hospitality available for groups. The family's connection to this stretch of coast goes back to the 1920s, when a great-uncle first brought them to Angus's east coast from Scotland's west.
