Poppy's occupies the site of the old paper shop on Main Street in Golspie, a small tearoom with bright, cheerful rooms serving breakfast and lunch through the day. The kitchen turns out baked potatoes with homemade coleslaw, bacon rolls, sandwiches and a rotating list of traybakes and apple pie, alongside cappuccino and other hot drinks. It is family run, open six days a week and closed on Sundays, with outdoor seating for the milder months and free parking outside for passing NC500 traffic. Poppy's has built a following among locals and travellers alike for straightforward, well-priced cooking rather than any elaborate menu, and for the warmth of its staff. The tearoom sits roughly midway between Dornoch and Brora on the county's main coastal road.
