Smoky Corner opened in 2021 at 180 Kentish Town Road, in a shopfront that had stood boarded up for several years before owner Tural took it on. Tural previously ran Natural, a plant-friendly store and café further down the same road, before switching to a charcoal grill built around American-style burgers with a European touch. The kitchen works from a single grill, keeping the menu tight rather than trying to cover multiple cuisines. Its mauve-painted exterior stands out against the surrounding shopfronts, marking a corner that had been empty since the previous tenant closed. Customers can eat in, collect orders placed online, or get food delivered, with the small dining room filling quickly at weekend lunchtimes. The bun and patty are made to a fixed recipe rather than varied seasonally.
