Wolfe & Castle occupies a Grade II listed building on Rochester High Street known locally as the wonky building, for its visibly leaning timber frame. Listed since October 1950, the structure dates substantially from the late sixteenth century, with seventeenth-century remodelling and further alterations in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries; the timber frame is finished in weatherboarding and brick cladding. The micropub opened in March 2022 in a space that had previously been a delicatessen and tea shop, and is run as an independent operation rather than as part of a chain. It stocks bottled and canned craft beer from a range of breweries, alongside real cider, wine and cocktails, but does not serve cask ale. It opens Tuesday to Thursday from 11am to 9pm, Friday and Saturday to 11pm, and Sunday to 5pm, closing on Mondays.
