Intra Arts occupies the former Spemco building on Rochester High Street, a Victorian structure with an Art Deco shopfront in the area known locally as Chatham Intra. The not-for-profit venue was established in 2014 and runs without ongoing public funding, instead hiring out its workshop spaces and running paid classes. Resident makers include Medway Fine Printmakers, whose studio holds presses and equipment for paper and textile printmaking, and Karen Verma's GlassMania studio, which teaches fused glass, copper foiling, stained glass and mosaic. A street-facing Windows Gallery shows a monthly changing exhibition, visible from the pavement at any hour. The print studio takes pre-booked visitors on Wednesdays and by appointment. The building also hosts poetry groups, textile projects and community festival planning alongside its regular exhibition and class programme.
