Orchard Nurseries

Orchard Nurseries is a plant nursery on Hopgrove Lane South on the edge of York, owned by the Small family since 1992. Chris Small runs the business, holding qualifications in horticulture and garden design built up over more than 30 years. Stock covers trees, shrubs and herbaceous perennials alongside seasonal bedding plants, compost and pots, with a service for filling baskets and containers to order. At Christmas the nursery sells fresh wreaths, table decorations and cut trees. Beyond retail, the nursery offers garden assessments for customers planning new beds or borders and gives talks to local gardening clubs. It operates from a single site rather than as part of a wider garden centre group, distinguishing it from larger chains in the area. The business has traded under the same family ownership for more than three decades.
