Record Revivals traces back to 1982, when Rod Emms began selling secondhand LPs and singles from cardboard boxes on Victoria Road in Scarborough. The shop changed premises several times over the following decades, including a spell sharing space with Mojos Music Café on Northway, before settling in 2010 at its current address next to the Stephen Joseph Theatre. Paul Toole and Gill Brown took over the business from Rod in 2017 and continue to run it as Scarborough's longest-established record shop. The two-floor shop stocks new and secondhand vinyl and CDs across genres, along with music-related gifts, and buys in collections from local sellers. It remains a single independent shop rather than part of a chain, and takes part in the annual Record Store Day event.
