Skye Silver has designed and made jewellery from the Old School at Colbost, near Dunvegan, since 1974. Working in sterling silver and nine-carat gold, the studio produces pendants, necklaces, earrings, bracelets and cufflinks, many finished with kiln-fired vitreous enamel, and draws its motifs from Hebridean nature, Celtic design and the sea. Pieces are made on the premises and sold both from the Colbost shop and online, with the workshop and retail space sharing the converted schoolhouse in the northwest of the island on the road out towards Glendale and Neist Point. The shop opens on weekday afternoons through the season. One of the longest-running jewellery makers on Skye, it remains a single independent workshop rather than part of a wider chain, and ships its collectable ranges to customers well beyond the island.
