Uig Pottery is a working ceramics studio on the pier at Uig, overlooking Uig Bay on Skye's north-west coast. Alan Freestone established the pottery in 1992 and now runs it as a partnership with Margaret Freestone. The workshop is open-plan, so visitors can watch pieces being thrown, turned and painted before firing. Output includes mugs, bowls, plates, jugs and teapots decorated with tartan, Celtic knotwork, seashore and Highland cow designs, alongside quaichs that can be personalised for weddings, births and other occasions. The pottery also stocks jewellery sourced from South Uist. Each piece is hand-thrown, so finish and size vary slightly between items. Alongside the Uig workshop, the business runs a second shop on Wentworth Street in Portree and ships worldwide through its online store. Uig Pottery has traded from the same pier-side site for more than three decades, making it one of the longer-established craft workshops on this part of the island.
