Isle of Skye Distillers is an independent gin distillery on the outskirts of Portree, established in 2017 by brothers Thomas and Alistair Wilson, who grew up on Skye. The distillery sits at Hillfoot on Viewfield Road, behind the family home, where four stills produce the Misty Isle range of gins, vodka and liqueurs in small batches. Botanicals are grown in the distillery garden or foraged within a quarter mile of the site, including juniper, meadowsweet and sea orache gathered from the shores of Loch Portree. The brothers built the business after leaving careers in hospitality, the Parachute Regiment and firefighting. Isle of Skye Distillers sells directly through its own shops in Portree and at the Misty Bottle in Breakish, alongside regional stockists. The distillery itself is not yet open to visitors, though the company has said it plans to welcome the public once planned whisky production begins. It remains self-funded and independent of any larger drinks group.
