Studio Eleven was set up by Adele Howitt in 2009 on Humber Street, in what she describes as the first creative business to open in the Fruit Market before the wider regeneration of the area. The ground floor operates as a gallery with wall-mounted and plinth-displayed work plus six display cases, showing a rotating programme of contemporary ceramics and painting. Upstairs is a shared workshop with potter's wheels and kiln access, run by a voluntary team of artists and potters and used for members' sessions, beginner pottery classes and a running Pottery Club. The studio became a partner venue during Hull's UK City of Culture year in 2017. It sits close to the Marina and The Deep, in a street of converted fruit-trading warehouses now given over to independent galleries, studios and cafés. Entry to the gallery is free.
