The Wardrobe Theatre is a hundred-seat studio venue on West Street in Old Market, founded in 2011 and run as an artist-led charity rather than a commercial promoter. It stages more than five hundred performances a year to a combined audience above thirty-five thousand, covering theatre, comedy, storytelling, poetry, puppetry, cabaret and new writing, with a stated emphasis on giving Bristol-based artists and companies an early platform. The venue shares its building with the Old Market Assembly bar, giving audiences somewhere to eat or drink before and after a show. Programming favours emerging performers over touring names, and tickets are generally priced to keep both the theatre and the shows it hosts accessible. It operates from this single address only.
