George Davies founded this bespoke tailoring house on Hanover Street in Mayfair in 1803. It moved to its present address at 38 Savile Row only in 1986, which still makes it the oldest independent tailor on the Row, and it remains the only bespoke house on the Row's west side. Patrick Murphy, Graham Lawless and Mark Broadfield now own the business, with former owner Alan Bennett continuing as chair. Davies and Son publishes an international travel calendar, sending cutters abroad on set dates through the year to fit clients who cannot get to London, in addition to serving walk-in customers at the shop itself. The firm counts among the last handful of tailoring houses on Savile Row still cutting bespoke garments rather than made-to-measure or ready-to-wear lines. Fittings and consultations happen by appointment at the Savile Row premises.
