Lakings has traded as a butcher on Eastgate since 1908, when the business ran a small abattoir alongside two shops split by meat type. The Laking family ran it for over a century; John Laking was a fixture in Louth for more than 60 years until his death in 2015, after which his widow Diane sold the business to Andrew Wright, the fifth generation of his family in farming. Wright has kept the original pork shop premises almost untouched. Lakings sells beef, lamb, pork and chicken from hand-picked local Lincolnshire farmers, alongside homemade sausages, burgers and cured meats, with next-day temperature-controlled delivery available.
