Eric and Christiana Piedaniel opened this French restaurant on Bath Street in 1994, first trading as the Renaissance Restaurant before renaming it after themselves during a later refurbishment. Eric trained as a chef in France and worked in London hotels before the couple settled in Bakewell; Christiana runs front of house while Eric cooks. The building is timbered and stands on Bath Street, with a dining room set over a single floor rather than a sprawling space. Menus change monthly and stay close to classic French technique: dishes have included a double-baked blue cheese soufflé, beef bourguignon, poached fillet of brill in lemon butter sauce, and crêpes suzette finished at the table.
