Hattersley Wines

John and Diane Hattersley founded this wine merchant in 2004, after John's earlier career running bars around Sheffield, opening the city's first wine bar in 1975, and later running the Bakewell restaurant Aitch's. The shop now trades from a unit on the Riverside Business Park and stocks more than eight hundred wines, alongside a range of spirits and beers, with bottles open for tasting most days rather than kept sealed behind glass. Their daughter Sarah now works alongside her parents in the business. Hattersley Wines was named Central England Wine Merchant of the Year and UK Small Independent Wine Merchant of the Year at the 2022 International Wine Challenge, and was voted the UK's favourite wine retailer in 2024. The team supplies wine lists for a number of hotels, pubs and restaurants across the Peak District.
