The Ginger Nut Shop& Tea Rooms

The Ginger Nut Shop & Tea Rooms occupies the village shop on Church Street in Youlgrave, combining a general store with a tea room under new ownership since late 2024. The shop stocks daily essentials, including fresh and frozen food, household goods, toiletries and pet supplies, for a village with no other grocer, while the attached tea room serves hot and cold food through the day, including jacket potatoes, salad boxes, paninis and home-baked cakes, plus a takeaway counter for rolls and sandwiches. It continues a long-standing tradition of a combined shop and tea room at the site, having traded previously as the Youlgrave Village Shop before the change of ownership. The business was awarded a five-star food hygiene rating by Derbyshire Dales District Council in August 2025. It remains the only general store and tea room in Youlgrave, serving both residents and visitors walking the surrounding limestone dales.
