The team behind Partick's Sparkle Horse opened a second bar, The Bell Jar, on Dixon Avenue in Govanhill, reported as newly opened in December 2018. The draught lines pour Glasgow's West and Drygate alongside cans and bottles from Overtone, Bellfield, Simple Things and Williams Bros, with no single brewery or pub company holding the lease. Food runs to a small plates menu of dishes such as peat-smoked haddock, lamb shoulder lasagne, spicy baked aubergine and N'duja meatballs, a wider range than the corner-bar setting suggests. A Monday night pub quiz has been a fixture since opening. The same operators went on to run a third bar, The Rose Reilly, on nearby Albert Road.
