The Pour HouseWine Shop

The Pour House is an independent wine shop in Swinfens Yard, just off Stony Stratford's High Street, currently led by Tim. The shelves hold more than two hundred handpicked wines sourced from producers around the world, chosen by staff rather than bought in bulk from a single distributor. Most bottles are also poured by the glass at a fixed markup of five pounds over shop price, letting customers try something before committing to a full bottle. Weekly tasting evenings run through six or seven wines matched with artisan cheese, guided by staff who work the counter day to day. Anyone buying six bottles or more gets a discount of fifteen per cent, which keeps the shop competitive with larger retailers on volume purchases.
