The Talbot Inn is an independent free house with rooms on Much Wenlock's High Street, in an early-17th-century timber-framed building on the street once known as Spittle Street. It offers six en-suite bedrooms in the converted Malthouse, a building dating to 1762 and one of only three malthouses left in the town, where barley was once malted for brewing. The inn runs a bar and restaurant using fresh local produce, homemade puddings, guest Shropshire ales and a varied wine list, though food is not served on Sunday evenings. The courtyard featured in the 1949 film Gone to Earth. Owner-run rather than tied to a brewery or pub group, it sits a short walk from Wenlock Priory and the town museum, making it a practical base for exploring Much Wenlock and Wenlock Edge.
