Warminster Museum occupies space inside Warminster Library on Three Horseshoes Walk, run by the Warminster Museum and History Society, a registered charity founded in 1972. The Society took on the town's historical collections after local government reorganisation closed Warminster Urban District Council in 1974, moving artefacts including Victor Manley's fossil collection and Harold Dewey's local history archive from an earlier home in the Sexton's cottage behind the Chapel of St Lawrence. Only part of the collection is on display at any time, with items rotated regularly and material held in storage available to view by arrangement with volunteer staff. All conservation and display work is carried out by Society members and funded by the charity itself, without paid curatorial staff.
