Wolfscastle Pottery has operated from Lordship Lane in the village of Wolfscastle, near Haverfordwest, since 1973, when Madeleine Cunningham established her studio on the St Davids peninsula road. She now works alongside potter Paul Webb, throwing stoneware and porcelain pots decorated with bold Chinese-style brush strokes in glazes of copper red, mauve, blue and green. Large slab-built dishes sit alongside functional tableware, all fired by gas in a reduction kiln at the single Wolfscastle site. The pottery has traded continuously from this one workshop and showroom for more than fifty years, without opening further outlets elsewhere in Pembrokeshire. Visitors can see pieces being thrown and finished in the same space where they are sold, a working studio rather than a retail-only gallery.
