12 Degrees occupies a former shop on Rochester High Street, converted in 2018 into a micropub built around seven chilled cabinets serving six changing beers and ciders on gravity dispense rather than pumps. The name plays on the founders' motto RAMS, Real Ale Makes Sense, and pints are kept at that temperature. Ground floor seating is bench tables and stools, with a quiet upstairs snug and toilets, and a basement holding twenty-five to thirty people that runs a weekly open mic night alongside darts, table football and poker dice. Beers change constantly and recent casks have included Kent Black Gold and Kent Tropic Ale, backed by a short list of wines and spirits. There is no food menu and no children are admitted under the licence, keeping the focus on cask ale served cold and drunk standing at the bar.
