Calum's Seal Trips is run by Calum and Jane MacKenzie from Plockton, sailing wildlife cruises on Loch Carron aboard the Sula Bheag. The hour-long trips visit the loch's resident common seal colony and also turn up otters, sea birds, porpoises, dolphins and, occasionally, whales, with a long-standing pledge that the trip is free if no seals are seen. The MacKenzies describe the business as the longest established boat operator in Skye and Lochalsh, and boats leave several times daily from either the car park pontoon near the visitor centre or the main pier, depending on the tide. Alongside the standard wildlife cruises they run occasional music cruises, private charters and wedding trips. The season runs from early April to October, weather permitting, with adult, child and family tickets available and departures adjusted daily around tides and conditions.
