Clint Lodge was built in 1869 by Lord Polwarth as a shooting and fishing retreat above Mertoun Bridge on the River Tweed. Bill and Heather Walker leased the house from the Duke of Sutherland in 1997 and refurbished it as a bed and breakfast; their daughter, Suzie Walker, now runs the business, drawing on more than thirty years in catering. The house holds five en-suite bedrooms rated four stars by the Scottish Tourist Board, a drawing room with an open fire, a sun lounge, and a dining room warmed by a log burner. A separate cottage, Buccleuch Chase, sleeps families or couples wanting more privacy. Suzie also caters weddings and private events from the lodge.
