The Magnet reopened as a free house in November 2009 after a rescue from closure, and the family running it added an in-house microbrewery, now called Mount Crescent, on the pub's fifth anniversary in 2014. Fourteen handpumps serve one permanent cask alongside thirteen rotating guest ales, backed by up to twelve keg lines and a large bottled range from abroad. A vaulted front bar leads through arched doorways to a pool room overlooking the brewery kit, and an outdoor area looks onto Stockport's railway viaduct. A stonebaked pizza oven runs Thursday to Saturday evenings from a permanent outdoor pizzeria. National Geographic included the pub in a list of twelve UK pubs, and it has also picked up CAMRA regional Pub of the Year honours.
