Minchella's Fish & Chips occupies a seafront takeaway on Dykelands Road in Seaburn that has traded since the 1950s, one of the former Notarianni family premises. Trevor Minchella, whose grandfather Giuseppe Minchella began making ice cream from Fencehouses after arriving from Italy, runs the shop with his wife Sandra, who is related to the Notarianni family by marriage; her uncle previously ran the Seaburn site before the couple took it on. The counter serves fried fish and chips alongside ice cream made on the premises in a rotating range of flavours, sold by the scoop or as takeaway tubs. There is outside seating overlooking Seaburn beach, a short walk from Roker. Trading as Minchella's Seaburn Limited, it remains an independent, single-site family business rather than part of a wider takeaway or ice cream chain, continuing several generations of the family's Italian-English food trade on Wearside.
