Holly and Martin's shop on Lower Hillgate sells the magazines the supermarket rack has never heard of — Apartamento, The Gentlewoman, the slow-journalism quarterlies — alongside books, stationery and a cup of coffee while you decide. It has become the kind of stockist the independent publishing world name-checks: Delayed Gratification profiles its own sellers, and this is one of them. Print is supposed to be dying; on this brow of old Stockport it appears instead to be browsing, six days a week.
