Shelley Wood runs her ceramics studio from a small shopfront on Mossley's Market Street, making hand-built vessels, tiles and jewellery finished with scraffito and lino-pressed surface patterns. Alongside her own work, sold as tableware and decorative pieces, she teaches taster sessions covering hand-building basics and themed workshops built around a single object, such as a textured bowl or a fruit basket. Sessions are priced per head and run in small groups, making the space usable for birthday parties and hen groups as well as individual beginners. Wood trained to degree level in fine art ceramics before setting up on her own, and continues to take on bespoke commissions alongside the class timetable. New stockists for her ready-made pieces are due to launch through the year.
