The Anchor Inn is a family-run free house dating from 1742, standing opposite the village green in the centre of Ringmer. Harvey's Sussex Best is the regular session bitter, backed by two changing guest beers during the week and three at weekends, mostly from Sussex breweries such as Bedlam and Only With Love, with South Downs real cider on in summer. Food runs lunchtimes and evenings on weekdays, all day Saturday, and traditional roasts on Sunday until six. Two garden areas and a separate terrace give plenty of outdoor seating, while the bar keeps pub games including toad-in-the-hole, darts and cribbage running alongside a real fire in colder months. Dogs are welcome in the main bar and children in the garden and dining areas. The pub operates from midday daily, with later closing on Friday and Saturday nights.
