The Old Bell Inn stands on Huddersfield Road in Delph, part of the cluster of Saddleworth villages around Uppermill, in an 18th-century former coaching house that the inn's own history dates to 1870 under its current name. Owner Philip Whiteman has built a Gin Emporium inside the building holding over eleven hundred bottles, recognised by Guinness World Records as the largest commercially available collection. Eighteen en-suite bedrooms sit above a brasserie serving sandwiches and working lunches and a separate restaurant with a changing, locally sourced menu, the whole building rated four stars by the AA and VisitEngland. Steep original staircases lead to some of the upper rooms, a reminder of the building's age that the inn flags to guests booking those rooms. It functions as both a working local and a small hotel, hosting weddings and christenings alongside passing trade heading into the Pennines.
