The Udder Farm Shop trades from Manor Farm on Front Street in Gillingham, opened in 2005 by Jane and Brian Down, whose family has farmed the surrounding land since 1938. The shop's own herd supplies home-reared beef and lamb, butchered on site and sold alongside pork, chicken and dairy produce from neighbouring Blackmore Vale farms. A deli counter stocks cheeses, preserves and charcuterie made in Dorset and Somerset, and the attached coffee shop and restaurant serve the same meat across a menu of breakfasts, lunches and Sunday roasts. The business remains a single independent site rather than a chain, still run day to day by the Down family. Themed evenings and private bookings take place on Friday and Saturday nights, alongside the regular shop and café trading hours.
