The Wellfield Bookshop has traded from the same shopfront on Wellfield Road since 1982, run as a family business and now one of the few independent bookshops left in the city. Shelves cover fiction, local history and Welsh-interest titles alongside diaries, calendars and cards, and the shop keeps a customer ordering service for anything not already in stock. Staff numbers stay small and the same faces tend to serve regulars, who come in for recommendations as much as for the stock itself. The shop also sells CDs, DVDs and stationery, a holdover from years of adapting its range to whatever the street still wants from a bookshop, with shorter Sunday trading fitting the rhythm of a residential shopping street.
