Emma and Stephen Emmerson run Woodside from a Victorian walled garden at Monteviot, a few miles north of Jedburgh on the road towards Ancrum. The plant centre stocks trees, shrubs and bedding plants sourced from Scottish and UK growers, and added a small grocery shop in 2020 and an aquatics section the following year. The Birdhouse Tearoom looks out over a bird-feeding station set up for visitors to watch garden birds while they eat, serving coffee, home baking and light lunches, with outdoor tables facing south and indoor seating available by phone booking. A polytunnel holds bedding plants through the growing season, and a separate department sells vintage garden tools and ornaments. Dogs on short leads are welcome in the outdoor areas but not inside the tearoom or plant shop. The centre opens daily year-round, with shorter hours in winter.
