Catherine Hills opened her atelier and shop behind the Duke of York pub on the Pantiles in November 2014, after a career that included stints with Dinny Hall, Clive Burr and Vivienne Westwood and jewellery-making for the Harry Potter films. She trained at the Royal College of Art and became a Freeman of the Worshipful Company of Goldsmiths in 2002, and pieces sold from the shop carry her own London hallmark initials, CEH. A small team of craftspeople make and remodel jewellery on the premises, taking bespoke commissions for engagement rings and wedding bands alongside ready-made collections. The shop keeps limited public hours, open Thursday to Saturday with other times by appointment, reflecting a workshop that prioritises making over retail footfall. An Airedale terrier called Rolo is usually somewhere behind the counter.
