John and Christine Carter bought Millets Farm, then a dairy farm, in 1952, and the Carter family still runs it today. Their sons Nigel and Tony planted six acres of soft fruit in 1975 and opened the farm shop in 1978, adding a bakery, butcher and fishmonger under one roof. In 1997 the farm planted the first maize maze in the UK, entering the Guinness Book of World Records. The shop on Kingston Road, Frilford, sells produce from the surrounding farmland alongside baked goods and fresh fish, and sits next to a garden centre, play barn and pick-your-own fields the family added over the decades. Two generations of Carters still oversee the site day to day.
