Built in 1776 at the foot of Stinchcombe Hill on the Cotswold Way, the building traded for years as a beer house called the Fox & Hounds before Ric and Ellie Sainty renamed it the Old Spot Inn in March 1993 and set it up as a dedicated real ale pub. Under live-in managers from 2001, it won the Campaign for Real Ale's National Pub of the Year in 2007, and it took Gloucestershire CAMRA's Pub of the Year again in 2024. Up to eight cask ales rotate alongside local ciders in a low-beamed interior warmed by a wood-burning fire, with a garden behind. It has featured in the Good Beer Guide for two decades running. Independently run and unconnected to any brewery or pub company, it operates as a single-site freehouse under general manager Will Sutton.
