Rani Moss runs this pottery studio from two converted barns at Hononton Farm on Furnace Lane, near Horsmonden. Twenty-eight wheels fill the main barn, with separate rooms set aside for hand-building, glazing and porcelain work. Courses range from eight-week beginner terms to guest workshops in raku, saggar and kintsugi firing, alongside Saturday taster sessions for people trying wheel-throwing for the first time. Moss has taught students who went on to train at Clay College in Stoke, and says skilled potters are becoming harder to find, treating the classes as a way of passing the craft on. Evening sessions draw commuters off the London train, while daytime classes suit retired people and parents.
