Brothers Matt and James Dunford founded Fine Grind after discovering specialty coffee while travelling together in Thailand, building it into a High Street coffee bar in Tunbridge Wells before adding sites inside the Amelia Scott museum building and at The Forum music venue. All three locations stay under the same family ownership rather than operating as a franchise. The High Street shop is known locally for a reliably poured flat white and a small window bar where regulars work through the morning. Dogs are welcomed with a biscuit at the counter. The menu keeps to coffee fundamentals rather than an extensive food offer, which suits a High Street trade of commuters and dog walkers calling in before work. Staff turnover is low enough that customers are greeted by name, and the shop has become an informal noticeboard for events happening elsewhere in town.
