Gemma Buckett and Ollie Farrar opened FortySix on Malton's Market Place, bringing nearly forty years of combined kitchen experience to their first venture together. The menu runs on sharing boards and small plates rather than set courses, with a weekend brunch service, a Thursday-to-Saturday small plates list, and a Sunday sharing board built around roast meats and Yorkshire puddings. Upstairs, a cocktail lounge with sofas and low lighting doubles as a private dining room for small functions. Buckett is originally from York and Farrar grew up in nearby Sheriff Hutton; between them they source coffee, bakery goods, and gin from fellow independent producers within the town. The dining room seats a modest number, and evening small-plate sittings fill quickly on Fridays and Saturdays.
