Alison and Mark started Oxfordshire Arts in 2014 in a garden studio in Abingdon before moving the business to a purpose-built studio near East Hendred, on the edge of Wantage, in 2017. Weekly pottery classes cover throwing, hand-building, coiling and glaze work, while weekend courses teach Raku, and outdoor barrel and gas firings for potters wanting to push beyond electric kilns. The studio also runs monthly decorative glass fusing sessions and half and full day classes in precious metal clay, where fine silver jewellery is shaped from a pliable clay before firing. Tutors lead one-day throwing workshops for newcomers alongside ongoing classes for members who return week after week to develop their own work. The studio sits down a track off Featherbed Lane, reached most easily by car from either Wantage or the A34.
