The Western opened on Weston's High Street in March 2018, established by James Dean alongside the family's Western Building Consultants firm. The eco-themed café-bistro-bar sources meat from Newton St Loe Farm and roasts its coffee in Bristol, with Fair Trade jams and chocolate on the shelves. Renovation work reused cladding from the Bristol Wood Recycling Project and left the original stone and brickwork exposed. By day the menu runs to soups, sandwiches, cheese boards and a vegan mezze plate with falafel; the bar extends service into the evening with local beer, gin and cocktails. The premises sits on Weston's village high street, a couple of miles out from central Bath, and welcomes dogs.
