The Beerhive opened in November 2011 at 24 Rodney Street in Canonmills, run by owner Peter Sherry as an independent bottle shop rather than a franchise or supermarket outpost. The stock runs to craft beer from smaller breweries, growers' wines and spirits including vermouth, whisky and agave, alongside cocktail-making ingredients. Sherry's stated approach is a shorter, chosen list rather than an attempt to stock every available label, changing lines as new breweries and importers come through. The shop sits within an off-licence trade that has grown around Canonmills and Broughton over the past decade and a half, filling shelves with bottles picked for drinking rather than completeness. Trading hours extend into the evening most days: Monday to Thursday to eight, Friday and Saturday to nine, and Sunday afternoon and evening. It remains a single-site, owner-run shop with no other branches.
