C Dawson & Sons is a family butcher and bakery on Brayton Lane at Manor Farm, on the edge of Selby. Clifford Dawson established the business in Brayton in 1960, originally running it with the family's own abattoir. His sons William and Charles joined in the late 1960s and early 1970s and moved the business to its present premises in 1982, following the redevelopment of Manor Farm. Under their management the butchery added a bakery, producing bread and pies including the pork pie the shop is best known for locally, using recipes still followed today. The business passed to a third generation, Phillip and John Dawson, who continue to run it. The shop sells fresh meat alongside baked goods such as pies, sausage rolls and bread, made on site. It remains a single, family-owned premises rather than a chain, trading under the same name for more than sixty years.
